Ethereum is gearing up for its most significant update so far known as Pectra which will begin operation in March 2025. EIP-7691 enhances Ethereum by processing twice as many blobs per block which boosts data throughput and reduces operational costs even during high-traffic periods.
  • Improved Validator Onboarding: Processing of validator deposits now moves to the consensus layer due to EIP-6110. The system becomes both more efficient and secure by lowering potential security threats and reducing the time new validators need to wait.
  • Smart Contract-Controlled Withdrawals: EIP-7002 enables validators to execute withdrawal transactions through smart contracts. This development delivers automation capabilities and extends operational flexibility for staking platforms while building user trust through enhanced system transparency.

The collective set of these proposals establishes the foundation of the Pectra upgrade.
